I. GANGES REPETITION SERIES – Phẩm Sông Hằng Rộng Thuyết
1 (1)-12 (12) The River Ganges—Eastward, Etc. – Thiên về phương Ðông
1-2) — “Bhikkhus, there are these five powers. What five? The power of faith, the power of energy, the power of mindfulness, the power of concentration, the power of wisdom. These are the five powers.
3) “Bhikkhus, just as the river Ganges slants, slopes, and inclines towards the east, so too a bhikkhu who develops and cultivates the five powers slants, slopes, and inclines towards Nibbāna. “And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu develop and cultivate the five powers so that he slants, slopes, and inclines towards Nibbāna?
4) Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops the power of faith, which is based upon seclusion, dispassion, and cessation, maturing in release. He develops the power of energy … the power of mindfulness … the power of concentration … the power of wisdom, which is based upon seclusion, dispassion, and cessation, maturing in release.
5) “It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu develops and cultivates the five powers so that he slants, slopes, and inclines towards Nibbāna.”

And six about slanting to the ocean.

1-2) — Có năm lực này, này các Tỷ-kheo. Thế nào là năm? Tín lực, tấn lực, niệm lực, định lực, tuệ lực. Những pháp này, này các Tỷ-kheo, là năm lực.
3) Ví như, này các Tỷ-kheo, sông Hằng thiên về phương Ðông, hướng về phương Ðông, xuôi về phương Ðông. Cũng vậy, này các Tỷ-kheo, Tỷ-kheo tu tập năm lực, làm cho sung mãn năm lực, thiên về Niết-bàn, hướng về Niết-bàn, xuôi về Niết-bàn.
4) Ở đây, này các Tỷ-kheo, Tỷ-kheo tu tập tín lực liên hệ đến viễn ly, liên hệ đến ly tham, liên hệ đến đoạn diệt, hướng đến từ bỏ… tấn lực… niệm lực… định lực… tu tập tuệ lực liên hệ đến viễn ly… hướng đến từ bỏ.
5) Cũng vậy, này các Tỷ-kheo, Tỷ-kheo tu tập năm lực, làm cho sung mãn năm lực, thiên về Niết-bàn, hướng về Niết-bàn, xuôi về Niết-bàn.
